Timor is an island in South East Asia. Until recently it has become known as a permanently war-torn country. Lately things have settled down on the island, with the creation of two separate countries divided to the East and West.
Our beans are grown in East Timor, on the Coopertiva Cafe Timor, which was established in 1994 with the help of the USDA and NCBA. The CCT became Fair Trade certified in 2001. The Fair Trade revenue they receive has enabled this cooperative to be able to do things such as: provide medical coverage for their farmers, improve current coffee infrastructure techniques and assist members and their families in purchasing necessary goods.
